EAA 690 has created a Youth Aviation Program, where high school and college students learn the fundamentals of aircraft construction. The “hands-on” approach has led to at least six new pilots, as for every 10 hours worked in the program, one hour of free flight time is earned. Participants rarely miss a Saturday session, and students numbers are limited. While the use of various tools is encouraged, each use is supervised by an adult chapter member.
